The companies Balearia, Trasmediterranea Ferries and Europe and Iberia Seetouristik Förde Reederei, all shipping companies have been fined recently for allegedly cartel. That is, it was found that the companies had made ??distributions of market and pricing in order to eliminate competition between them.
Specifically, it was found involving them in this practice for the sea route between the ports of Algeciras and Ceuta.
The penalty has been imposed by the National Competition Commission (CNC ) and represents a total of 16.3 million euros. Among these, more than 12 million correspond to the penalty and Europe Transmediterránea ferries, while Balearia and its subsidiaries will have to deal with 2.35 million and Forde Reederei Seetouristik Iberia to the tune of 1.88 million euros.
As noted from the CNC, companies would be charged to develop this type of practice from February 2008 to April last year, except the Ford company Reederei Seetouristik Iberia that would become part of the agreements in October 2008.
